I have known no greater force than that of the Kundalini Shakti. Her compassion, grace, intelligence, and love leave me humbled in awe, drowning in blissful devotion.
It’s somewhat of a shame that so many are quick to dismiss the Shakti as something insignificant on the spiritual path. I was guilty of this myself early on in my awakening journey. Heavily influenced by male teachers and a misogynistic society, I paid no attention to the dynamic, feminine, creative potential that is the Shakti.
Despite my naiveté, the graceful and compassionate Goddess, the Kundalini Shakti, still came and offered me a chance to be transformed by her. I am now eternally appreciative of this opportunity.
This entire dance of relative existence is animated by the Shakti. It is Shakti that brings forth the manifested world out of Shiva, the absolute. It is Shakti that is felt in the heart, as love, bliss, joy and devotion. It is Shakti that shares these and all words and it is Shakti that perceives and interprets them. To dismiss the feminine is to insult the infinite intelligence of the Universe.
The other day, I found these old photos from my childhood. It seems that I must have known something of the significance of the Kundalini Shakti, often represented by a snake, from early on. It was only once I began to be conditioned by a patriarchal culture in my later years that I began to forget.
But I am here now, in full remembrance of what I have always known: the Kundalini Shakti, the Divine Feminine, the Great Mother is responsible for all of this Life that I experience. And she is not separate from me. She is at one with what I really am.
“I bow to the primal power.
I bow to the all encompassing power and energy.
I bow to that through which God creates.
I bow to the creative power of the Kundalini, the Divine Mother Power.”
- The Adi Shakti Mantra
